I am not rich and have so so credit, but me and my sons always have everything we need we go on vacations once a year and have a house. I work full time as a professional.

I would love to add a daughter but want to adopt.

Do they let single parents like this adopt?

  1. Yes, as long as you can meet your finacial obligations and provide a safe home you can adopt a daughter from the foster care system....

***Generally speaking: Most countries want Married parents, and require a certain finacial ability.... In many cases adopting Internationally would cost at least the annual income you have....

Many families adopt children between the ages of 1-3 from foster care.... Children placed for adoption from foster care will have Medicaid until they are age 18 or 21 in some states...

Families that adopt foster children have access to Post Adoption supports that are not avalible to domestic or international adoptive parents...

Children with special needs may qualify for adoption support subsidies which may help families provide those things and supports that are needed...

Often former Foster Children can attend state universities and community college tuition free...

Many international families need to travel to the country at least once and often twice....

MANY families adopting internationally find the child's needs are more then they are able to meet--and with the lacks of support these children are placed into the US Foster Care system when the adoption fails....

Many Contires have practices that are unethical and as the adoptive parent You might not even know...

  2. Thats a great ambition! There are millions of  kids begging/dreaming of people like you.But unfornately, there is $$ to be made from hanging on to these kids and the government is hard to deal with!  My niece & her husband are trying to adopt (from China), and their hope is for a lil girl, and they have everything/anything a child could want! But the wait is extensive.  I don't know all the details, but if you wish more info, I'll talk to them about it for you!

  3. if you go through your local foster care, you'll need to take classes, which are at no cost to you.  then they'll evaluate you and just want to make sure you can financially provide for another child and have the room in your home and it's a safe environement.  most areas this is at no cost to you.

  4. yes they do but they make sure that the child would be safe there

  5. Different countries have different adoption guidelines.  I remember there was a website that gave a breakdown of all the international countries that adopt and their guidelines.  If I find it I'll post it.

I heard that China was pretty strict about adopting internationally.  I don't think they allow people to adopt that are overweight.  Weird, huh?  Anyway, talk to an adoption agency, they'll give you the guidelines.

Edit:  I found the site!  Here's a quick breakdown of different countries requirements for adoption:

  6. Yes, especially if you are willing to take an older child or a hard to place child.

Depends more on your living conditions, references, credit, job, and general life stability.

  7. yes but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, get ready to go under the microscope. Because there is government money to be made in foster care some children are abused because of their love of the Almighty dollar. Therefore the standards have gotten stricter which is best for the children's safety and welfare. So, if you get turned down don't take it to heart maybe it was for the best. If you do qualfy remember a child's hopes and dreams will be in your hands for life. God Bless and Good luck.

  8. I agree with the three answer above me.  Best wishes!
