Is it possible for an American citizen to marry a British citizen in Italy?

hi everyone!! so I have been looking on these boards for the past few days now, but I still have a few questions so if anyone can help that would be great. well I am an American and my boyfriend is British next week I am flying to London on a visitor's visa for the 3rd time. It is very costly for us to fly back and forth and its easier for us to married because we hate being apart for months at a time. I know it isn't good to get married in the UK on a visitors visa and if you do to wait 60 days so it doesn't spark any red flags with immigration. But is it possible to get married in Italy or other countries Sweden, Holland, etc.. then go back to the UK and have my boyfriend apply for my spouse visa to live in the UK? I know that I can stay in the UK while the spouse visa is being processed. If you have information on whether or not this would be alright please let me know!!!!! thanks Amber

yes -check with the embassies for the rules & laws.

Why not get married in UK ? or in USA?

You both can get married in Italy of course, since he is EU citizen & can arrange it but then matter of legalisation of marriage certificates etc will jump in, so in my opinion it would be better if u both marry in one of ur country of citizenship ( i.e. UK or USA)
