  1. fafter   rigorous  training only a person  becomes an optometrist --your doubt is about the fundamental about which there will not be any  hardship to tackle. they are trained for more than 2 years and  daily  at least 100 times they come across the so called your doubt to be rectified.ref to --thecollegeserch/hmt/optometrist assistant_4hmt and www.grenevisiongroup.com117k

  2. 1. No, the Dr. couldn't possibly mistake one for the other.

    2. Yes, there are contacts for astigmatism, they are called Toric Lenses.

    3. The salt from seawater can make a buildup on the lenses, and make them uncomfortable very quickly, yes.

4.Toric lenses are almost twice the price of regular lenses.

    5. If you need the correction for the astigmatism, but don't wear a toric lens, you just won't see clearly.

It would be like having a broken wrist and a broken finger, if they only put a splint on the wrist...the finger stays broken.

Small, or  very minor astigmatism usually doesn't have to require a toric lens...it all depends on how much astigmatism there is.
