  1. Yes.  Read the pharmacy printout you get with your script.  They have sexual side effects.  Talk to your doc - you can play around with different prescription until you find one that has the least effect - but you'll still probably have issues.  It's very frustrating.  Try Celexa - that's the best I've found for me so far, but I still have issues.

  2. Yes, they're rather famous for that.  It's a cruel trade-off- you start to feel better because you're being medicated, but a crucial part of your life is now greatly diminished.  I have found that in time, I am able to overcome the effect of the drugs.  This may be the case for you, too.

  3. yes because anything is possible

  4. yep. that was one of the biggest reasons i quit them! i was even more depressed on them and there was no more intimacy between my boyfriend and i.

  5. yes, it's not just possible, but very likely.

I think Wellbutrin (sp) works differently and doesn't have that side effect.

  6. Yes some of the side effects of anti-depressants are a decrease desire in s*x.  Type the name of your anti-depressant on google, or call your pharmacist to get a full list of the side effects and information on your drug.

  7. absolutely!  that's one of the major downsides of certain antidepressants.

Not all of them have this side effect, however.  Wellbutrin is one.  If nothing else, that stuff made me hornier;  probably because I wasn't depressed all the time.

Check with your doctor with your concerns.  A simple change in meds is all it takes.

  8. ABSOLUTELY YES.  My ex husband (not why he's my ex though) was on Zanax I believe and it totally messed with his desire to have s*x.  I've heard that from a lot of people I don't know what to tell you.  I hope things get better with you so you can eventually get off the medication or at least lessen the amount, in the mean time take it one day at a time. Baby steps until you can move on.  Hope you have a brighter tomorrow. Blessed Be.

  9. The pills can totally have that effect.  I had the same experience with antidepressants and it was terrible.  For me the pills always made me feel just...well...flat.  Like I had no emotions or desires (especially sexual ones) at all.  After a while I actually sought a therapist who doesn't prescribe pills and does a therapy called EMDR. You should check it out...it's too much to explain here.  It changed my life and I havent had to use prescription drugs for my depression and ocd since!  Best of luck to you.

  10. That is the number one side effect.

  11. Didn't you read the literature that comes with the antidepressants?

They clearly state that there can be sexual side effects.   You need to discuss these with your doctor (who should also have informed you about these), and you may want to try one of the medications that doesn't have these effects.

I was on Paxil and Effexor for awhile, which had those effects, and I asked my doctor to put me on Wellbutrin, which doesn't seem to have these side effects.

However, one may work better for you than another, which is why you need to work with your doctor on this.

  12. Yes, that is a side effect of Prozac, libido depression
