Question:

Is it possible for cockroaches to harm my rats?

i have three rats in a big cage on the floor, with food in their cage obviously. i just saw a cockroach scatter across the floor and i couldn't successfully catch it. will it/or it's other cockroach friends hurt my rats or infect/eat their food? :(

ahh what to do!?

  1. Well, they're not exactly the cleanest critters around, so if your rats catch one & decide to have a little bug snack, it could give them a stomach upset if nothing else.

    Cockroaches may try to eat the rat's food, but if they're in the home, they probably already have a food source.

  3. I will just take a guess at this but I am gonna say that the rats will harm the cockroaches so you have nothing to worry about...

  4. Ewwww!! Yuck. They aren't good for your rats but aren't that bad either. Cockroaches are a sign of uncleanliness and filth. Never crush a cockroach becuase that wil squish all of the eggs out, resulting in even more disgusting cockroaches. Flush 'em down your local toilet.

  5. I think the rat will probably just kill it or eat it. I am pretty sure they will not cause harm to any of your rats though some insects may carry diseases, but I wouldn't`t worry too much.
