Question:

Is it possible for faucets to turn on by themselves?

My husband and I were standing in the kitchen talking and all of a sudden we heard water running. He walked over to the bathroom and the hot water faucet had been turned on. Noone was in our apartment except us. A friend said it could be a loose pipe or something but is that even possible? We have lived in this apartment for almost a year and never really had a "supernatural experience" here.

  1. I dont think its supernatural... Rather it could be that some sort of tank had a water debt...such as a toilet cistern that when flushed needs to be refilled...this would result in lower pressure all around the house....and if someone were not to close the tap properly it would not run as there is insufficient water. but when the tank is filled again.. presuure returns to normal. and the viola the tap runs...

It is similar to how opening the tap causes a drop in shower pressure

  2. Well i dont really have much of an answer but more of an experiance you know those lilttle door snopper things that when u move them make that loud boing!!! looks like a spring well i was at home alone and the thing went off as if something pushed it isoo oh and if you had 2 turn the handle back ti turn the water off then it most likely wasnt loose pipes i know not much help but goodluck.
