Is it possible for fish to get attached to each other?

I bought a pair of dalmatian mollys, and then bought another female about a week later because the male was harassing the first female.

Now, all three always swim in a "school". When I took out the fish because i had to wash the tank, it ended up that the two females were in a different bowl then the male. When I put the females back in the tank, they were flipping out. When I put the male back in, they were normal except swam together even more often.

Is it possible that after a week or so fish get attached??

  1. Yes, fish of the same kind stick together. Its instinct.

I lost one of my Dwarf Gouramis yesterday, and the one left seems loney, looking at his reflection. His name is Squish, the one that died was named Spud.

My balloon mollies stick together as well, but they tend to fight sometimes.

  2. most chinese algae eaters get attached to fish when there older LOL

  3. Yes.  It is instinctual because there is safety in numbers and this is the way they would do in open water.

That- and they like each other.

  4. My Blood Parrot Cichlids sleep together, and where you find Gimpy, you'll find Jack. I think that fish feel safe when there is another of its species. Just instinct.
