Is it possible for gems of any kind to have air bubbles in them?

  1. yes. air was dissolved in the magma when temperature was extremely high, and was squeezed out as the temperature went down. so, it is possible for air trapped in gems, but the possibility is not that much.

    air bubbles are common in silica-rich stuff, like in quartz, and in agate. amber also can preserve ancient air, an important way to know paleo-atmosphere.


  2. yes it is, think for example of  the semiprecious amber, this contains ari bubbles, and if you have seen jurassic park, you would also see it can contain fossilised insects...
