  1. Hypothetically, yes, we can hibernate since we have the gene that slows our heartbeat during hibernation and maintains our body temperature and stuff like that, except it's inactive. A lot of scientists are trying to develop a way for humans to hibernate, and in my opinion, that would be really useful for patients in hospitals that need to be put into a chemically induced coma. It would obviously take away a lot of the risk. It might also help people up in space and stuff like that.


  2. No.  We don't have any genetic predisposition to hibernate.  Actually very few animals hibernate.

  3. I suppose a coma is sort of a human hibernation- existing in a low energy state, but no, humans cannot hibernate in the original sense of the word. We cannot willingly sleep for months.
