is it possible for light to do physical harm?

NOT HARM LIKE: skin canser or somethin that is gonna burn you

i mean harm as in PUSH something

what im getting at is

use light to push objects at high speeds

  1. Laser 'can   do that  i think, only very lightly (no pun intended)


  2. I saw an experimental miniature flying disk (like a ufo) on tv that was powered by a laser. They just point the laser at it and something inside like a fan starts and makes it go up in the air. It was remarkable because it didn't need to carry any fuel and could remain in the air for as long as the mechanical parts lasted. I'm not sure how it works inside, but yes, a laser can make things move.

    You can convert thermal energy into mechanical energy. For example, a steam-powered locomotive. Lasers emit light and light has almost no mass, so it requires another device to transform the energy.

    On an extremely large scale (like the solar wind emitted by the sun) the small mass of the light adds up to enough force to push things like a space ship with a huge "solar sail" up to close to light speed, but it has never been tried.
