A cousin of mine found out that they may be descended from Thomas Jefferson. My family can trace its origins to several prominent families in Virginia and elsewhere. I have always been interested in American and Presidential history and Thomas Jefferson has always been one of my favorite figures to study.

  1. Check out this site, (others are available of course).

G.B. Roberts and his American President book(s) will give you the information you seek.  I'd post from one, however, my book was stolen.

  2. It's very possible that you're descended from Jefferson. His descendents even have a formal society and hold reunions. The Monticello Association has a LOAD of information on the legitimate (and not so legitimate) heirs of TJ. I'd start by contacting both the Monticello Association and the Daughters of the American Revolution library to get specific information on your line and its potential ties to TJ.

  3. The only way to know is to research your family ancestry.
