Is it possible for me to buy a car using my credit, but having it in someone elses name for them to drive?

I do not have a liscense but I wish to buy a car for my wife using my credit but her license and driving info.? Is this possible?

  1. Yes. You don't even need to put the car in your wife's name for her to drive it.

    Say, for example, she has poor credit or no credit. You can just buy the car in your name name and list your wife as a registered driver on the insurance.  


  2. You don't have to have a license to buy a car. Licenses are for OPERATING a vehicle.

    Since you're married, legally any purchase of this sort is mutual--you both have a right to use it. Your credit and her credit are tied together.

  3. Yep.  Just put her on the registration.  No problem.


  4. Depends on the bank. Some banks won't let anyone not on the contract register the car (which wouldn't be a problem as long as you are BOTH on the contract!).

    Some banks will let you do a "registrant only" if you don't put your wife on the loan, some banks won't.  

    Also, if you don't have a license make sure you have an official ID. Some banks won't do the loan if you don't have a driver's license or official ID.


  5. Yes, you can finance the car as a co buyer!!!
