  1. In theory you could go if you beat all the other hundreds of professional sprinters in the 50 states to earn a place at the Olimpics.

But to beat the World Record in such a short time it's not a very realistic goal for a beginner. (the actual record is 9.69 seconds and it took almost 24 years to go from 9.99 sec (1984) to 9.69 sec (2008) and that's less than 1/3 of a second, so do the math)

The first thing you have to do is to join a good track & field team with a good trainer. There is a lot of theory and practice involved to be a good sprinter so there is no way we can teach you all that in just one answer.

  2. yes the olympics after all are for amateurs.

go to the trials, get a coach, keep running!

    work on polymetrics.

  3. No.

5 seconds is an eternity in the 100m.  If you are 13 and run the 100m in 14 or more seconds then I would find another event.  You won;t even make the High School girls track team with that time, much less break a world record.  The top high schoolers run about 10.5 seconds.  The top high school freshmen run about 10.9.  You would be about 25 meters behind when they crossed the finish line in high school.

Maybe you should try the 400 meters.

  4. you need to get with your track coach... I dont think theres a "walk on" or open try outs.

  5. ummmmm that would make u somewhere around 14 something....lets see for my hundred i'm 13 something.........if u worked really hard like everyday the next 4 years prolly

  6. To the post above: he wasn't saying he wants to beat the world record by 5 secs he wants to improve his OWN time!

It is possible to improve your time by a vast amount, but if you are already thinking of improving your time shouldn't you have a coach? Join your towns athletic team. You will then see if you have what It takes.Gd luck !

  7. You already asked this. It's possible to do basically everything. It's your body. look @ michel phelps. he trained sooo much. I believe 6 hours a day. no, you can't run for 6 hours a day. soo... run for a couple hours. then, the next day run for 30 min. then run as fast as you can.
