I was in gymnastics but i quit 6 months ago. I worked out 16 hours

a week. I am pretty athletic but i have never been on a volleyball team. I know some of the people that are going to try out and they have been playing for years I am ready to work hard but I don't want to embarrass myself.

  1. IF THERES A WILL THEIRS A WAY!

Just practice alot! Show the coaches that you want to work hard and you got it in the bag.

Make sure you have the basics down..... MAINLY SERVING AND BUMPING!

    Luck! :)

  2. Why ask people you don't know over the internet about your athletic skills. You not knowing us means we don't know you and your potential. Talk to the coach and try getting some tips before try outs so you have a  better chance of making it. Good luck

  3. just try. i played football my first year just because i was fast i knew nothing of the sport. if your athletic it might be enough to get you started untill you figure everything out.

  4. ok listen up....nowadays doesn't matter if someone know how to play volleyball or have the skills for any sport

but I'm sure you have skills....and for u because you had quit from gymnastics???(I like gymnastics) it'll be very difficult to do your own team, because you must find a good coach, some sponsors to help the team and players with experiences

I'm playing volleyball 4 years now and I want to be the captain but whatever u do, need to work hard...

All the best for you, be strong and good luck!!!!

  5. I think you should learn the lingo and take a few lessons first but it's pretty easy to learn, and you'll never know if you can make it unless you try!

  6. you should totally try out! i had never even touched a volleyball in my life and i decided to try out...i made the travel team at my middle school! you never know what you can do until you try. i suggest learning the basics of the game first so during tryouts when they yell out drills you wont be confused :)

    good luck!!!

  7. ask someone you know to help you out and practice before actually practice/tryouts start. word hard at it

    good luck!

  8. it will be hard if you dont have any experience with volleyball.

if it was me i would prob. save the embarrasment factor.

maybe you can take lessons and then next year try out for the team.

but if you rlly want to play.

    go for it!!

    :)

just ask someone for some tips and help b4 you go to try out.

  9. It really depends on the skill level of the other Freshmen.  Acually making the freshman team can some times be easier than making the 7 or 8 grade team.  This is because the really good players may move up to JV or Varsity.  Get some privarte lessons and play a bunch wherever and whenever you can

  10. If you practice enough, you have a chance to make the team. I would practice with some of the girls that are experienced and ask them for advice. Just keep practicing and don't give up!

    Good luck.
