Every time he plays with them he puts his mouth on them very gently and then once he gets done doing that he will lay on the bed and watch them like a momma would.

He has never been around young kittens before(they are 9 months) He has been around cats(one cat I had she was 2 and they were best buds but she died in January.)I got her before I got Duke. She was about 3 months when I got Duke.

With the kittens Duke is almost 3 and the kittens have been here since they were around 10 weeks.

  1. Aww that's cute. I guess your dog thinks that the kittens are puppies? Or maybe babies of your 2 year old cat that passed away? That's still very sweet and I think your dog must be lovely!

  2. Yes!

My Molly (blk lab/rott) thinks she is the mom to 15 baby hamsters right now. She even tried to snap at the mama hamster! She just loves them and I am sure somewhere in her little dog head she thinks they are some kind of puppy.

She is the same around kittens! She is the same around our adult male cat and he frequently smacks her in the nose if she gets too playful or too close.

  3. Not really. Dogs and cats don't have parent/child bonds when they get older like humans do. They are very close and have found a friendship and security in each other. This is so nice.

  4. Yes yes and yes again !!

This is perfectly normal, don't worry.

My 3 year old cat is mothering our lil bunch of pups at the mo. She licks them, sleeps wid them, Carry's them around in her mouth, watches them like a hawk and hisses at our other cat when he comes with in a mile of them.

  5. Yehh i think its fine, Duke (if thats the dog) is probably missing the other cat and needed company soo he is looking after the kittens.x
