Is it possible for my friend's new husband to have legally divorced his Xwife from Mexico without her consent?

Can an American go to Mexico and legally divorce their American spouse who will not consent to the divorce? Can they divorce them from Mexico without their knowledge? Is this legal or is my friend now married to a bigamist?????

  1. He is full of it, girl, get your friend away from him!

    If he is a bigamist, she is not legally married to him.  If he already has a wife, your friend's marriage is void - like it never happened.  

    Legally, can't divorce someone in another country!  If the marriage was American, so must be the divorce.  

    Get your friend a priest, pastor or lawyer!

  3. No highly unlikely, if not 99% impossible.

    He must be a legal resident of Mexico before he may apply for a Mexican divorce. Becoming a legal resident is a rather complicated, time-consuming process.
