Is it possible for my high school to find out my whereabouts on where I went to college?

Before graduating, high school counselors asked all their students of where they were going to college so that they can still keep them on record files. I said I was going to this one university, because at the time, I was accepted and was planning to attend there. However, I recieved a letter in the mail that my admission to this college has been revoked. Will my high school ever recieve word that my admission has been revoked, and will that be on file? Also, I'm planning to take a year off, and go straight to a community college. Will my high school ever have a record of where I went or will they have on record that I went to this university I said I was going to? Can my high school search for my whereabouts and find out which institution I'm in if they wanted to? Please don't give any rude answers. 10 points for best answer!!

  1. I'm pretty sure they could find out if they wanted to, but I don't imagine they would bother.

  2. It's possible, but they are unlikely to bother.  It would take a lot of work to keep track of all the students whose plans have changed.  Don't worry about it.

  3. No.  They only know what you tell them.  The college does not have to tell them anything.  They will contact you personally to invite you to HS reunions but they won't contact colleges to see if you are there.  They will just use the last address they have on file for you.  You can just ignore them, as I do.
