Question:

Is it possible for pegs to leave a mark on your clothes?

Well my dad has decided to do the laundry recently, problem is my clothes seem to have these unusual marks,so I lifted the pegs off the clothing while they were hanging out to dry and sure enough the same mark was there

I told my dad to try not to put the pegs on too firmly, thing is it seems I had made the same mistake yet I've hanged the clothes before with my mother but the mark was never there.

Is this because he puts too much conditioner on the clothes while in the washing machine or something?

I tried putting on the pegs a little more lightly and it doesn't seem as bad but I think the mark might be there, some of my tops already seem to have a permanent mark in the center (which is where my dad usually puts the pegs) and the fabric looks a little damaged.

So um..does anyone have any ideas on what to do about this?

Please? I would apreciate the help.

  1. Yes pegs can indeed leave marks on your clothes. Aw but try not to be too hard on your dad, he was trying his best.

    Good Luck.X :-)

  2. My guess is that it's wooden pegs I use plastic ones now for this exact reason. x

  3. Maybe he is using too much powder.  If he won't show you get him some liquid and see if the marks persist.

Also any peg will mark clothing, you just don't always see them.

  4. don't let him do laundry

  5. When you take your clothes off turn them inside out, then after they are washed, when your dad hangs them out ask him to peg them on the seams so any peg marks will be on the inside of the material and on the seams so won't show. If you do get some on the inside of the material these should iron out if you use plastic pegs.

  6. Do you mean just an indent, or a color?  If the clothespins (pegs) are wood, and they get wet, they can leave actual marks, not just indents.  They need to be kept indoors at night and in damp weather.

  7. Yes it is possible for pegs to do that.

I'd say get special pegs with soft rubber grips. (Lakeland does them in the UK.... but as you've spelt 'centre' the American way, I assume you don't have Lakeland over there). Plasti c ones are less brutal than traditional wooden ones, too.

I doubt it's because of conditioner, to be honest.

Peg marks are annoying, aren't they? Still, well done to your dad for trying. That's more than mine would be prepared to do!

  8. hmm yeah mine leave marks too i just iron them out.. or they'll straighten them selves out.. i think. d**n those pegs!

  9. They will leave marks if they've been left outside in damp weather. One way to cut down on problems is to dry your clothes inside out; that way the marks will be on the inside.

  10. Try to buy some of the 'soft grip' pegs but if you cannot place the clothes pegs on a seam or somewhere else they don't show.  I do iron all our stuff so it is not a problem as the iron removes the mark.  You could ask your Dad to put your tops on plastic hangers instead, or, better still, hang up the laundry for your Dad.
