  1. You say "senior citizen" but are we talking 65 or 85? If you are still in possesion of quick reflexes and good physical abilities, I'd say sure. Only after taking a M/C saftey course. Although, if your physical abilities are questionable, mabye a trike would be an option.

  2. Yes, to a point.Light traffic in rural areas would be ok, but in a major city I would not recommend it.A certain amount of physical strength is required especially for larger bikes, there is also the matter of mental awareness of surroundings and conditions.I have been a motorcyclist for many years but have not ridden for the past few years.I am 55 now and would not try to ride like I did when I was 20 or so.

  3. Yes...........as long as they can still understand the rules of the road and are of sound mind and judgment they can do whatever they want to.

  4. I think if you are physically able to do other ordinary tasks, and you are still a safe driver, you should be fine. There used to be an old guy who would ride his Rebel 250 all over out town. I am willing to bet he was in his mid 80s. I haven't seen him this summer though. I hope he is OK. I bet riding a motorcycle would keep you feeling young, and bring a lot of interest to your retirement.

Good luck. I hope you follow through with it.

  5. Sure.  I am 63, went to the MSF Basic Rider Course and passed.  Got a Kymco PS250 scoot, and I ride it as my daily rider.

See it here, and lots more about scoots:

  6. some colleges have motorcycle safety classes/ yes

  7. Why would it not be possible for a senior to learn?

As long as they are physically and mentally fit ( which many seniors still are ), of course it's possible.

  8. yea why not lots of old  people ride motorcycles i know one 67yo who rides a  BUSA he needs sticks to walk but on the busa he is better than a lot of young riders he is no slouch on it  i also know a motorcycle rider who is  in his early 60s who has now  come down to  a 600 says that's all he needs now also a 70yo who has now gone on to 125cc ,

  9. I'm 57, and I ride my Vmax every day..

  10. I'd say if they're still capable of driving a car, they should have no problems driving. If they can't drive a car because they can't do gears or pedals or whatever, they may struggle with it on a motorbike, too.

  11. That would depend on the physical codition of the person. SOME of the younger generation shouldn't be allowed to ride larrger bikes because they're not physically able to support the weight. They're too used to siting in a chair playing video games. On answerer said he was 55 and hadn't riddenfor some few years and wouldn't consider riding again. Probably knows what is best for HIM, but I am 54 and just returned from a trip to Florida where I spent three days riding and taking in sights. Not a huge bike, but a 750 Shadow. My wife is 53 and is about to start her riding next spring. I work with guys that are 10 years younger than me and I am ore phisically fit than they are. I have proven that over the past 6 months and they respect me for still being that fit. I watch a man running every day while I am going to work. He runs 10 miles per day and is almost 80 years old. I imagine HE could ride as well as anyone if he wanted to. I know a man that is 75 and took his last ride this past spring. He is selling his bike now because it makes his back hurt. Senior citizens? What do you consider "senior"?
