  1. Even expired policies are kept track of. If you call the insurance company they can tell you when the policy ended.

The only person who can change a policy is the owner. The owner could be the insured or someone else.

  2. It would only be possible if they represented themselves fraudulently. If the insurance company cannot find the policy, there probably isn't one. They don't lose track of those kind of things.

  3. If they cannot find the policy, perhaps your information is wrong.

  4. Nope, the check is ONLY written out to the beneficiary, and mailed directly to them, also.

If the insurance company can't find the policy - you need to present YOUR copy to them.  But it's HIGHLY unlikely they can't find a policy that's in force.

  5. I strongly recommend that you contact a lawyer

  6. What makes you think a policy existed ? Do you have any papers? Can you look at the old checkbook and look for a premium payment then get a copy of the check to see the info on who cashed it and that should start the ball rolling.

  7. First, you need to find some kind of bonafide proof that the policy ever existed. Proof of payment (through checking or other banking records) or some kind of correspondance from the insurance company. If you are relying on the word of someone saying they made you the beneficiary on a policy, it's possible it never existed.
