  1. Yes.  That's why there are firewalls.  The best security you can have is yourself though, never open attachments that are not coming from someone you know (and even then, make sure they actually sent it). Don't click on suspicious links in emails.  Be careful when a popup comes asking if you want to install something, etc.

  2. Indeed it is  possible. Turn off remote connect on your computer and get yourself some spyware and virus protection software. most of these you can download for free on the internet.also check with your provider they may have free software for you as wll.

  3. A hacker can get into your computer, if you have not set up the proper blocks.

A hacker that gets into your Administrator account can see everything on your computer.

    ======================================...

I will give you below, the things that you need to do to remove and prevent your computer from being hacked.

There is more than one thing a hacker could do, so

    DO follow ALL the steps:

    1) Protect your computer from being hacked.

    2) Temporarily Disconnect your computer from your ISP connections, so that neither you or anyone else can access the internet, when the computer is on.

    3) Restart your computer.

Go to MyNetwork Places > click View Workgroup Computers > delete any that are not yours or your family

    4) Go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall >

a). tab General > click option ON

b.) tab Exceptions > Unclick everything except your email, or other services you approve like your game site, or Scrabble, or those you KNOW are legitimate

    c.) tab ADVANCED > Services >

UNcheck Remote Desktop > and any other you are not using.

    5) Run the AVAST program do a thorough scan. Link at #10 below.

Allow AVAST to continue to run at all times.

    6) Go to RIGHT click the START button bottom left of your monitor > select/left click EXPLORE >

See in the left panel, all of the files on your computer. If any file has a "share" hand on it > RIGHT click that "share" hand icon, >

    select "Sharing and Security >

select the option to NOT share this folder.

You may need to open some of the larger folders to see if any SUB FOLDERs have a share on them.

    7) Go to Control Panel User Accounts

Disable all accounts that you do not use.

    Never disable Administrator.

Set or change the password for the computer log-on (Administrator) and for all other user accounts give passwords. Make sure the password is strong, which means have numbers and letters that are non-words

    8) Set a password for access to your desktop:

Right click a blank space on your desktop > selelct PROPERTIES >

tab ScreenSaver > IMPORTANT: You must select a screensaver

then check the box " On Resume Password Protect"

and set the number of minutes you want for the screen to pop-up requiring log on.

I have mine set to only 3 mintues.

    9) Reconnect your computer to the internet access.

    Restart your computer

    10) get this tool:

    Avast free Home Edition

    Get it here:

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit DELETE, (do not quaranteen).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with this one for the last 5 years.
