Is it possible for someone to hack into my computer through myspace?

I was in a myspace chatroom and some guy threatend to hack into my computer... and about three days later I had viruses and spyware on my laptop. Is that possible? Or did I just download it by accident?

  2. Yes,actually it is one of the most vulnerable sites to viruses and network trackers.

  3. He would need to know your IP address to locate your computer.  

  4. No not all, not simply through using MySpace. There are plenty of ways to get somebody's IP address but it would still take a lot of work, and even once he had it, he'd have to bypass your hardware firewall/ software firewall and anti-virus software (if you're running some). He's very probably talking rubbish.

  5. Yes. If you were connected to the same chat room as him he could use a packet sniffer to obtain your IP then send it through an IP dossier to gather more detailed information that is needed for the attack. Simple enough for a kid to do. The viruses he probably got from a supplier but a real attacker makes their own.
