I know this is an odd question, but I'm curious. The person would also stop to eat and a few short naps, but is it possible?

  1. I don't see why not if they are physically fit.  I, however, see no good reason to ever do this.

  2. If they stop to eat and rest then they are not riding 40 hours straight.  I doubt anyone can do it non stop.

  3. Yes it's possible. Just a month or so ago, the record was broken for consecutive hours on a stationary bike; the guy rode for something like 175 hours. He was allowed a 5 minute break per hour and could save and accumulate his breaks. If I remember the article correctly, he took a total of about 9 1/2 hours of breaks during the whole ride. Here's a link to the article: http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/l...

In RAAM, riders often go the first 48 hours non-stop.

  4. Yes, it is. The record for 24 hours is over 500 miles. 40 hours is very possible espessially when you get to rest for a little while. Bathroom breaks are needed.

  5. well ... i cant sleep for 40 houres !! so how can i ride for that time .. :P

i tried riding most for 2 hours .. and that gives me pain from the Saddler even its best comfort saddler from Trek .. ! so .. 40 hours ???? i dont know seems VERY hard thing to do to your prostats :P

  6. This type of thing is done more often than you might think. 1st example that comes to mind is the RAAM, or race across america. It's 3000+ miles and the racer ride it with little sleep or rest.

24 hour races or endurance contests are more common. The idea is to ride as far as possible in 24 hours. The top finishers do not sleep at all.

  7. given those conditions you listed, it wouldn't be 40 hours straight. Of course someone could ride for 40 hours if they got to eat and rest every once in a while.

  8. only if they wanted to i guess, have to be pretty fit though

  9. You could. You would be tired and you could eat while riding slowly. It wouldnt be impossible but quite hard.

  10. ummmmmm well first only someone crazy would ride a bike for 40 hours it is possible but only if they were fit... also i bike a lot and i have only gone for 2 hours strait and it hurt so 40 hour would have to be like the biggest most fit and healthy guy in the world.... probably if anyone tho it would be a midfeild soccer player or a running back football player lol

  11. Sure it can and has been done. Like some already said RAAM. For the guy who thinks a non-cyclist lihe a scoorer player - or more silly a football played could do it - no way.
