Depending on your jurisdiction - likely yes.

When you can afford the purchase price, ammo, and dedicate the time to develop the skill to use it, they can be quite fun. Many owners will drive the necessary distance to other states to compete in 1000 yard competitions. As for the caliber itself, Americans' are quite used to shooting stuff even larger - 10 gauge slugs in shotguns, .60 in blackpower. It has little to do with the diameter of the bullet, it's all about the amount of powder to shove the weight that far down range.

Kind of like a 604 CID engine in a street legal car, some do it.

Aside from the few areas that ban them they are legal, However Barrett is very back ordered this war thing going on has gotten Barrett very busy. It could be over a year before you could get one. I won't go into the why and if's about getting one. I personally have better things to do with my money.

The M107 is essentially the same thing as an M82, which is legal to own in about every state but California (not sure where else it is banned). But $10,000 for the rifle and about $5 a round puts it out of most people's price range.

sure.. but what do you need one for? I live in the SW USA and would have to drive for miles to get enough real-estate to let a .50 fly safely.Very satisaftory long range shooting can be had with the M1, M14, or one of the other multitude of 30 cal or 223 service rifles out there.

With the exception of the citizens of the Peoples Republic of California and perhaps a couple other unlucky localities, yes. The vast majority of U.S. citizens can purchase this gun.
