OKay, is it possible to be pregnant with two babies and either the heartbeats be perfectly in sync or for one to develop a heartbeat before the other one? Just wondering as my u/S pic really looks like there are two babies but when they checked the heartbeat on the u/s (which they only listened to for about 5 seconds) there was a single steady heartbeat. Could one have developed the heartbeat beofer the other one? Any similar experiences. I wish I could post the pic on here because it really looks like two babies. But my scanner won't work with my new computer.

  1. I think this would be pretty miraculous. Most likely what happened was that the baby moved when the picture was taken. Bring the pictures to your doctor and see what they say.

  2. The Dr. should of known!  xox

  3. The doctor has seen hundereds of ultrasound pictures, I think they would know if there's 2 babies or one, even though they can only hear 1 heartbeat. But if twins run in the family, there might be a possibility that you're having twins, usually a mother's instinct is always right though, just schedule another ultrasound appointment , and find out for sure, in a week or so. I wish i could see the u/s picture...

  4. First congratulations!!!  Depending on how early you are, and how good the ultrasound machine was your MD used it's hard to say if there are 2 babies....if they didn't mention it, I wouldn't get too worked up about it.  If you are really early, sometimes you will see a fetal pole, and very close to it you'll see a "yolk sac" and to an untrained eye could look like another baby!  As far as the heartbeat goes, when they listen to a heart beat using an ultrasound machine, they put the baby's heart into a specified section in-between cursors.  That is the only area heard at that time.  Just because you only heard one heartbeat doesn't mean there isn't another one there.  You could have triplets, and listen to one heartbeat at a time on an U/S machine.  And yes...you can have twins where one has a heartbeat, prior to the other one.  As most of the time that's the way it happens.  Congratulations on your pregnancy!!  I wish you all the best!!

  5. Why not? It actually makes sense for two embryos to have the same heartbeat when they came from the same cell...
