Hi, I've recently became interesting in boating activities and since I visit Toronto very often from Vancouver, I was thinking if it is possible/legal to buy your own canoe and use it to boat your way through to Toronto Island?

If so, do you need any permits? Where would be a good place to park your car and launch?

  1. It is actually very common.  There are many canoes and kayaks based on the Islands and lots of small boat traffic in the harbour.  Easiest place to launch would be the foot of Leslie street, in the outer harbour.  Therre is a marina there with parking etc.

  2. yeah, ppl canoe and sail all the time.

  3. Excellent place to canoe, among the islands, though getting there across the water in a canoe can be a little hairy if there's any wind, or chop in the Gap. You might be able to get a resident who would let you leave the canoe in their yard, and there is a Toronto Island Canoe Club. Search on the net for Toronto Island Community Association. Get someone to tell you where Snug Harbour is.
