I love the water, and i love swimming. When i get in the pool, i don't just feel like i'm swimming, i feel like i'm apart of it.
I just found out that my mom signed me up for swimming lessons when i was 4 and she video taped my 1st lesson. I watched it, and i was shocked.
The instructor never had to teach me a single thing. As soon as little 4 year-old-me jumped in the water, i just started swimming; and not with 2 legs. My legs were together and i was just moving through the water like a mermaid. My mom even started to panic when i went under for over a minute and i didn't need to come back up for air. I'd never seen the little mermaid movie until i was 7, and i didn't have any books with mermaids in them cause my parents started reading me college text books as a "bed time" story, and i'd never seen a show or anything with a mermaid in it, cause when i was 4, i was hooked on Barney and Pocohantus. I wouldn't watch anything else.
But, anyway, it just makes me think; Were mermaids real at one point and possibly still are, and just like apes, maybe we emerged from them and just have natural instincts, Like me swimming like a mermaid. And people raising their arms in the air when they win a race, just like monkey's do when they win a fight with another monkey.
Now, i'm really into mythology, especially mermaids, i still swim like i did when i was 4 and i still feel strongly connected to the water.
So, call my crazy, but i think that mermaids might have been real at one point in time and we emerged from them, just like we did from apes.
