Is it possible my car to be damaged?

I was driving home...i took the back streets..i was goin about 40mph and then i passed through a street where the road was all messed up...the bottom of the car hit the road really hard...i checked everything and it seemed normal...i continuted driving home ( about a mile ) and i parked and everything about the car functioned normal...is it possibe the car can still be damaged?? its a 99 malibu

  1. ask a tire shop or any shop to put it on a lift to do a visual inspection. This is usually a free service since no actual maintenance is performed.

    Be sure to check all obvious parts like the oil pan, transmission pan if itsd an automatic transmission, tie rod ends, exhaust, etc.


  2. As long as you don't find any excessive fluid leakage in the morning, you're probably OK.

  3. it is like going over a speed bump without slowing down. sure you damage  the frame a little with scrapes and you can really mess up the alignment, but everything else should be ok. if it was a ford (slow down all of you ford fans watch were i go with this) it would be possible to trip the inertia switch ,making it very hard (impossible) to drive home until you reset that.
