  1. The SR25 is a 7.62x51(.308), and is a direct decendent to the AR10. The AR-10 was originally designed by Eugene  Stoner in 1958, and is the father of the AR-15.

At the time of its development, Stoner was employed by Armalite, and later developed the AR-15 to accomodate the newly developed 5.56x45 Nato round.

Later Stoner mover on to his own company, and built the SR-25.

I own an AR-10 and have shot and killed 2 deer with it. In Ct there is no restriction with regard to mag capacity, but some states limit to 5 rounds, and some 10.

Check with your state then aquire the appropriate mag.

The only state that may have an issue with the weapon is California, which restricts the weapon, all together.

PS I used my armalite in the woods, but it is an awfully heavy gun for hunting. You would be better off in a lighter 30-06.

  2. It would depend upon the state in which you are going to do your hunting. There are certain states that do not allow the use of semi-automatic rifles for hunting. Here in New Hampshire, the use of a semi-automatic is perfectly fine so long as the magazine is five rounds or less. In states that do allow the use of auto-loading rifles, the five round or less rule is the standard rule.

Your choice of caliber (.308 Winchester) would be fine for deer or bear, but I think you may want to consider something a little stronger for buffalo.

Also, given the expense of the SR-25, you may want to consider a less-expensive rifle to bang around the woods with. If you like the AR-type rifles, Armalite, Olympic Arms, DPMS, and many others make similar rifles that do not carry the heavy price tag of the Knight.

  3. In michigan yes,  If you are above grand rapids.  You need I five round mag though.
