Is it possible.....?

I have a ten week old baby and I stopped nursing her when she was two weeks old. I want to start nursing her again, is it possible to nurse her after such a long break? I'm only producing a tiny bit of milk now. When I pump, I get less than an ounce from both b*****s. I know pumping frequently can help produce more milk but is it too late for me? What do you suggest?

  1. It certainly IS possible. I believe you should do it!  Contact LLL and they will be a wealth of information on re lactation. Good luck!

  2. It is possible but you would have to work hard at re building your supply by nursing alot and pumping.  If you have the time to devote I would go for it.

  3. yes very possible- i suggest you try latching her one right now- try every cahnce you get- the more you pump and nurse directly the quicker your supply will come up and eventually you will be breastfeeding full time

the amount you are pumping is pretty good for not nursing for eight weeks a lot of mother can't get that much. once your baby nurses directly she'll be able to get much more out of the breast than teh pump

  4. Good for you!

Contact a LLL consultant to help you develop a plan.

  5. it will be hard but if you're patient it's possible. Pump every hour and see if that helps.

  6. I wouldnt put her back on breast milk, I know it would be better for her, but you have already taken her off it once, plus your not producing enough milk. Maybe you should talk to your doctor first, maybe theres something they can do to help you produce more milk!
