So far I know , electricity from Solar panel/cell is used directly for different purpose, may be some energy can be used as battery but , is there any other storage system to store energy for long time?

  1. Here is the way to store electricity produces by the solar cell:

    Solar cell produces 0.5 volt. Connect 3 solar cells in series,that can produce 1.5 volts. Using it to charge a single Ni-Cd battery (1.2 volt). A good low leakage Ni-Cd battery can hold the electricity for 30 days without lost too much power (about 10 % lost). This is the only way to store electricity  produce by the solar cell directly.

  2. You can store it in a battery.

    You can store it other ways;

    pump water to a high level, and later use it to drive a turbine.

    Spin a large flywheel up to a high speed.

    Separate water into H2 and O2, and later burn them

    and others...

    But they all come with a penalty of efficiency loss, as high as 50%.

    But solar arrays are so small a percentage of the national use, and are so intermittent anyway, it makes little sense to store the energy.
