I got a letter stating that one will be mailed out on the 27th of June and if it had not been received in 3 weeks to call

Did not know if this is some mass mail out to (D) which is my initial of last name.(?) Could we then possibly get this money even though we make monthly installments to the IRS? .

  1. No, not unless your stimulus check is large enough to pay the debt in full.  If it is, you'll get whatever is left over.  If it isn't, the entire amount will be applied to your debt.

  2. Yes. They will keep your money..... We have a payment arrangement with the IRS as well and just received the bad news today..... They will garnish our entire $1800 and put it towards our back taxes. No stimulus check for us, but at least it reduces our tax payments by a lot!

  3. No, the letter is just a mass mailing to those who should get a stimulus check.  The recipients are not run against the list of taxpayers with offsets like yourself.  It seems like that would be easy enough to do, but they haven't been doing it.  They just want you to know that you are receiving the money - it is just that they are snagging it back to put against your offset.  At least it will help you get out from under them a little sooner.

  4. hey...I also was paying the IRS in installments...they ended up taking my total outstanding balance out of my stimulus check. Yah there was a little bit left over (not much lol).  peace, kozzz

  5. It will be offset to your debt with the IRS, IRS is required to mail the letter so you will know how much you qualified for, IRS didn't make out a different letter for the ones that will be offset because if you are in an installment agreement on of the terms and conditions is:  any and all future refunds will be offset and applied to your debt and even though a refund is offset you must still make your monthly payment on time or risk default.
