Is it possible that after you graduated from getting a bachelor degree, you can change your major by getting your master? I ask because I have a friend that is going on a graduate school. He told me that I didn't have to continues with my majors and I can go for something else. Like for example, right now, I'm working on my bachelor degree on psychology and I want to have my Master degree on Physical Therapy. Is it really possible? Help me!

  1. With physical therapy, most programs are doctorate level programs. So you need to have a BS in something, but what is also important is that you complete the prerequisite courses which typically includes a lot bio, chem, physics and psych (I'm sure you've met that requirement already).

However, there are a FEW programs that are still master's degree level programs and will admit you after your junior year provided that you complete the prerequisite courses and that you will have enough credits to be awarded a BS degree after your first year in the master's program.

If you are interested in becoming a PT, I would recommend you go to the APTA website at: http://www.apta.org so you can get a better understanding of the expectations.

    Good luck

  2. In most cases, as long as your masters is in a similar field (i.e., business and then finance) or your bachelor's supports the thinking needed (ie., economics and law) then there should be no problem..it is only when the bachelor's is not even loosely related (philosophy and medical studies, for example) that you would run into a problem.  Check with the admissions office of wherever you want to get your masters and ask them whether your BS will qualify you.
