I have half a dozen Australian friends and most of them seem to be very unhappy with Ponting being the captain of the Australian one day team.

One senior Australian is of the opinion that the present Australian odi team's situation is the same as that of the struggling Australian team in 80's when they gave too many chances to some out of form experienced cricketers based on their past achievements which hurt Australia badly.

What step you CA take if the Australian team under Ponting fails to live up to expectations in the one day series in West Indies?

Is it time to rush in young blood?

  1. Ricky Ponting will Never Be sacked..Come on stop talking rubbish..

Ricky will proberly stand down from One Day Captaincy some time next year..It will be passed on to Michale Clarke..

As far as Test Captaincy is concerned Ricky still has a good 2-3 years as Captain..What is it cant people accept the fact that Ricky is one of the best captains in International Cricket?..

Pffttt Biased racists, just look at the answers in here, totaly biased...

  2. No, not possible. When it's time, he will step down. I think you should pay more attention to your own team & it's less than perfect captains(who's capt this week BTW?) lol

  3. I think at some point, whether now, or in the near future, Ponting will be stripped of the ODI captaincy. The Australian selectors have showed themselves to be pretty ruthless; if Ponting isn't performing, he will get the boot. The captaincy of the Test and ODI teams has been shared before: Ponting led the ODI side whilst Steve Waugh was Test captain, and prior to that Waugh was the ODI skipper whilst Mark Taylor was at the helm in Tests.

At some point CA will decide they want to give Michael Clarke the ODI captaincy, so he can develop in the role before taking over at the Test captain.

I don't think Australia will 'rush in' any young blood though. They don't trust anyone to win them an ODI unless he has played at least 40 games. Players will be blooded one by one.

  4. theres enough youngsters in the side at the moment, with white, hopes, david, watson and marsh.

Surely you dont want aussie one day side to be dependent on only one player, because of bringing so many youths in. This is the case with indias one day squad, they cant win a significant match, especially when chassing, without sachin.

  5. He Wants Break Sachin's Record For Most ODI Hundreds And Then Retire From ODI Cricket. But I Would Personally Love To Have Him Sacked By The CA.

  6. he would quit

  7. He has just come with 5 years of absolute dominance on cricket with his batting I don't think CA will sack him just after WI series they will give him some more time he did scored a century in CB series against India.

  8. He will  ,.. most probably,..before The next world cup coz,.. he is gonna face some difficulties performing ,.. all those magics when Glen , Worne ,

& Gilly was there for him ~

His future is not as bright as OLD HAY DAYS~
