Is it possible that another humanoid species will displace homo sapiens someday?

If our species survives into the future, it is highly likely. Since hominids branched off from other apes around 5-7 million years ago, there have been a number of hominid species existing at the same time. It seems likely that our species was responsible for the demise of the Neanderthals around 27,000 years ago; we displaced them. Isolation of some part of our current species or a devastating environmental event will probably be necessary for any evolution to occur. For example, if we some day colonize Mars, a variant hominid might evolve there in isolation. That population might displace our species on Earth after some disaster like an asteroid impact or nuclear war decimated the population.

Funny you should mention that. Because I believe that what we call aliens are a dying breed of people that have lived here on Earth for far longer than we have. Whether they have anything to do with the creation of our species or not is a matter of debate. I don't believe they traveled from somewhere else in the universe to come here, because the laws of physics are such that no one could accomplish that in their lifetime. Will there be some other species after us? Probably if we don't make the Earth uninhabitable first.

they'll never be able to displace ALL the Indians and ALL the chinese. I mean, it's 3 billion to nil so far :)

It's more likely that we'll have a nuclear fight once we run out of space in about 50 years.

Like everything organic, we do evolve and will eventually evolve into something other than homo sapiens. Just like what was done in the past.

It may take a couple million years, but who knows.
