What do you think? Why?

Could it be possible to prove consciousness be to be just a strange byproduct of interneuronal communication? If so, how?

  1. Yes, especially if you think of consciousness in terms of brain waves.

I consider consciousness to be the union of spirit and matter. Like light it can act as both a particle or a wave. All of the correspondences are merely that, correspondences, not equalities. They are analogues.

The continuity of consciousness (from incarnation to incarnation) is something that occurs after a person attains a certain level of spiritual growth. Most humans do not have this continuity yet. Some have mere glimpses of their other lives and deny them because of societally accepted norms of unconsciousness. (They don't want to be labeled "crazy")

While I think there is a definite relationship between the internal chemical/electrical reactions or communications in the brain and changes in consciousness I don't know if they are causal. It may be a 2 way symmetrical relationship.

But to answer the question, I agree that consciousness is never created or destroyed. Like energy it just changes state (so to speak).

  2. everything is made up of energy

  3. considering that science hasn't even scratched the surface on explaining the nature of consciousness...it is entirely possible

I myself believe that consciousness continues after death in a different plane of existence and can return later

  4. everything in the universe is energy. if consciousness exists, it can be produced by converting other sources of energy. it is not an extra thing. it is like the images on your computer screen are not extra from the power you put into it. turn of the power going into your computer and screen the images go away.

  5. no....we are matter that wears out more every day..

  6. No, you're gonna die and you won't be preserving your consciousness.

  7. There is no real evidence that shows a consciousness continues or that it is not destroyed.  There *may* be some way of knowledge transfer, but at best, this is speculation.

    Edit:

The earth spins, the sun is shining on the earth continuously, and the sun does not travel through the "underworld" whatsoever.

Time "moves" towards the future, the past is just that, the past with no "transformation".

  8. Taoists have always said this.

But our definition of "consciousness" is not the same as most.  Most people have a very "self-centered" definition of consciousness.

  9. I think so

There is plenty of energy around us that we cannot physically experience. We did not know X rays and Radio waves existed until we had methods and machines to detect them. I cannot say that energy as awareness doesn't exist
