I know you're thinking 'Futurama' or something, but I want to know if size - weight doesnt go up proportionaly and if in physics something called 'density' plays a role in all of this.

i.e the more closely packed the atoms/molecules of an object the heavier it could be ? I may be in the same ballpark when it comes to this subject but not quite on the ball. So if you want to shed some light into this and explain to me the concept of size and weight and whether or not you CAN have an object small as a tennis ball but heavy as an elephant, then get back to me.

  1. Yep, I was thinking "futurama" lela's thing.

Well, I do belive that everything is possible in this world!

  2. It not possible on planet Earth.

    But............

In the midst of other planets and celestial bodies a tennis ball may weigh much more if that celestial body is very dense (the denser a body, the stronger is its gravitational force)

For example, A TEASPOON OF STAR DUST FROM A NEUTRON STAR WEIGHS MORE THAN A CRUISE SHIP PACKED WITH PEOPLE !!!

  3. anything is possible these days

  4. dark matter

  5. Black hole.  Much smaller than a tennis ball and weighs a lot more than an elephant.

  6. as above sheer density....perfect example is mercury. naturally dense! so of course it is possible to refine items so it is dense enough to be the size of a tennis ball but weigh the same as an elephant!!

  7. "a thimble full of neutrons weighs as much as the weight of all the cars on the earth" I've heard this a few times.

According to the Big Bang theory all of the universe was less in mass than an electron, or something, at one time. Presumably when it was all still a form of energy.

  8. Um, yes density is pretty much all it is... A golden ball the size of a basketball will weight more than one made of plastic. You pretty much hit it perfectly. And yes, there are certain space matter that one tablespoon weighs more than a house.
