I hold myself to a higher standard of scientific inquiry than is evident from the alarmists.

If there is only 1 barrel of oil left in the ground after 20 years and it is not pumped until the year 3008, let's not say that oil lasted 1,000 years.  Let's not imitate Gorian deception.

There is no evidence that oil will continue to be a significant resource for 1,000 years, and much that says it will not be.  While we should feel free to argue about the specific date, we should also agree that 20 is a better number than 1,000.

Final thought:

If oil runs out in 20 years, it will cause the disastrous collapse of US and global industry.  (That statement should not be contentious.  The world has not prepared for anything except oil-based economies)  Here's the good part: The resulting huge reduction in CO2 emissions will either prove the alarmist to be correct by halting and reversing global warming , or will prove that man's responsibility for global warming was a hoax.

In any case the cost of hydrocarbon fuels must increase due to deeper drilling required to break past the Slijan Ring.

The benefits of increased CO2 are becoming more apparent with the increased plant growth - without increasing temperatures.  But overall the Earth has been cooling from the billions of years ago when it was ball of molton magma.

We sit on a relatively Very Thin Crust with tremendous heat just a few miles below us. This fact is largely ignored by the Alarmists.

Well I work for an off shore drilling company and I can tell you there is plenty of oil. But my question would be why is our government not finding alternate fuels to run our cars instead of oil. Oil takes so much to refine to turn it into gas and other produces we use.

im pretty sure that is a huge consensus about global warming occuring. Whether or not it is man made for sure is still being studied but it seems there is a direct association if not correlation.

And why would anyone want to have to continue to use oil? Are you a Saudi or something? Maybe your from Dubai. But the rest of us would like to use a fuel that is much healthier, cheaper and cleaner than oil. That way we wont have to keep invading countries with oil to keep raising the prices.

NO. Even the most optimistic figures from the people with a vested interest show that at current consumption we have far less time than that. The independent view of oil reserves puts current stock at a level able to support us for perhaps another 50 years ignoring the cost implications of the reserves.

There are some who believe that Oil Shale, such as the Green River deposits, will provide a vast amount of oil but they do not seem to have done their research very well. It will only provide a synthetic gasoline and not the other elements also required by a petroleum based economy. So no heating oil, no avgas, no plastics etc. Then there is the problem of energy invested to energy recovered and whether it will ever be economically viable.

I find it interesting that some of the people who post in support of you so frequently resort to name calling and insults because they have no scientific backing for their views. It is also notable that at least one manages to cite 3 very real ecological problems, rain forest depletion, acid rain & ozone depletion, all of which are undisputed and recognised as requiring action . So congratulations to them for identifying real events as "ignorant plots" and highlighting that their opposition to anything intended to reduce our adverse impact on the environment is simply idealogically and politically motivated. It also seems that if we then take action such as banning CFC's and implementing pollution controls on industrial processes which at least slow down the acid rain and ozone problems then "hey presto" they weren't really problems in the first place. Clearly that person believes themself to be smart whilst actually being incapable of thinking in any logical or analytical way.

Yes, People have been speculating about the end of oil since it stopped gushing out of the ground under it's own pressure in the1920's.  

Since the alarmists have been predicting the end of oil for almost 100 years, every auto manufacturer has stuck with gasoline.  Maybe they know something the alarmists don't.

There could be 1000 years of oil, but it might be too hard to extract.  At some time in the next 1000 years, it will probably become more cost effective to use some other form of energy.

There are HUGE amounts of oil, sitting under Wyoming.  Research it.

I find it amusing how many people believe in global warming.  The people who believe in global warming are a bunch of ignorant sheep.  These are the people who also forward every stupid e-mail they get, for fear of bad luck or in the hope that Bill Gates really will send them money.

***The rain forests are going to be depleted and we aren't going to have enough air.

***Acid rain is going to burn up the trees, vegetation, and our skin.

***The hole in the ozone layer is going to eat up the atmosphere and the suns rays will be so bad that we'll have to wear special suits to go outside, if we don't die, that is.

Those are just a few of the ignorant plots put out there to scare people.  People who live in fear are easily controlled.

BTW...the trees are still there, and acid rain and the hole in the ozone layer apparently just dissappeared, as no one mentions them, anymore.

I wish people would wake up and not blindly believe what they are told.  Mark my words.  Within the next 5 years, there will be something entirely new to worry about.

There is nothing wrong with being enviromentally responsible.  But people need to wake up, do some research, and see for themselves.  The majority of people are not smart.  They have average IQ's, just 20 points above the retarded.  That should offer some explanation as to why the majority of people believe in global warming.  Baaaaaaa
