I make really good money and am just going to be in this apartment until I get a kid then i'll buy a house. A house is just too big for just me.

I will hire my parents as a nanny then a couple days a week they can go to a daycare to play.

I will always be home by 6. My job isn't one too need me after hours.

  1. Different agencies and states have different rules.  If you want a newborn, you will have a pretty hard time adopting based on your situation. (Since the birth mother will probably prefer to have the baby adopted by a couple, with a better financial/living situation.)  However, there are always older children (both domestically and foreign) who are in need of homes.  While even those adoptions are fairly costly (esp. if you opt to adopt abroad), the rules are less stringent, and you should be able to add to your family without much difficulty.

  2. Depending on your state law, and if your home would pass a home study, you probably can.  When adopting a newborn baby, it is much harder due to supply and demand.  It will be harder for a single mom to do it.  If you can find yourself a woman who is pregnant and willing to let you adopt the baby, it is much easier.  It might look better if you go ahead and buy the house, and prepare it to adopt.  When buying, look at safety issues, such as stairs, decks, doors, cabinets, etc.  Take a friend who is a mother with you before you have an independent inspection.  If you are already in the home, it won't look like you are going to be unstable and move as soon as you adopt.  Your age, ability to have a child, and several other things might play into the situation, as well as the caseworker.  There are very few infants with foster care, so you'll probably have to go through an agency if you don't find a prospective pregnant woman.

It is hard, but so worth the wait.  I know, my Jacob just turned 8 months old.  I got to give him his first bath, and he's been with me ever since.

  3. It all depends on the state and the agency

Who is going to take care of the child during the day while you are working? Have you done any reading into the needs of adopted children?

  4. Yes, it is possible to adopt a baby when you are single, and no adoption agency requires that you own your own home.

  5. I know that in my state, Kentucky. That a person can adopt regardless of age, race, religion, marital status, income or even health! Doesn't even matter if you live in an apartment, as long as you're willing to provide a loving home to a child thats in need, they're looking for you. Specially when it comes to the special needs children in our foster care system.

You should maybe look into becoming a foster parent first, get your foot in the door, and then ease into adoption.

  6. Owning a home isn't a requisite to adoption.  Your apartment should be big enough for a child, of course, and be "child friendly".  Meaning a complex with a playground is preferable to a loft apartment in downtown Chicago.

Single parents can adopt.  There are some private agencies that may only work with married couples.  There are some international programs that only allow married couples as well.  But you will still have plenty of options.

    Good luck!

  7. yes... these are the rules

    1. You must be above 25 years old

    2. You must be at least 21 years older than the child

    3. A male cannot adopt a female child.

    4. You must be able to provide financially.

  8. depends on where u go.

  9. well its all based on your income, if you have a nice apartment, have enough bed rooms, have enough money to support there needs and beyond, then i guess, but adoption agencies are really picky
