  1. It happens all the time.  For one thing (the more obvious reason) a question is asked to which no one knows the answer.  Another reason is that people answering questions spend a limited amount of time answering questions and never get to the question.

  2. uhhh... yeah.  you have been online all of 3 hrs as we speak. If you ask something interesting, you stay a nice guy... you'll get answers.  People may be sleeping (we have people logged on all over the world), so don't be too impatient.  Leave the question up a few days to give best odds of getting good info.

Since you dropped by genealogy (pay attention when posting.. your questions go into categories, and the "right" category means more persons ON THAT TOPIC will see it)... you can ask about how to trace your family.  Hey.. I'll toss in a link to get going on that, even though you did not ask.  *smile*

  3. Sure.

Go to any of the big categories - Singles and Dating, Homework help, History - and select open questions. Click on "Number of Answers" twice. The first click shows you Q with the most answers. The second will show you dozens to hundreds of Q with no answers.

There is a bug somewhere in the 400,000,000 Q&A - if a question shows up that is more than 5 - 6 days old, it is probably resolved, and has answers to it, but it will show up as open with 0 answers.

I don't know what happens if the open time expires and the question has no answers.

  4. Yes, but obviously this question is being answered.

  5. yes but uncommon

and obviously this question is being answered

  6. Sure,  haven't you ever heard of answering a question with another question?

  7. Sure. Life, Humanity, & Civilization are ALL "works in Progress...". And ALL Progress is- is the Development & Research of Questions to which we seek Answers...  The Day we "run out of Questions", will be the Day we no longer "Progress"- as a Species.... So it's perfect Legitimate NOT to be able to Answer a Question right away- as LONG AS- one never gives up seeking the Answer... :)
