Question:

Is it possible to attach a Gibson tailpiece to an Epiphone SG?

I'm looking up tailpieces on ebay and would like to pimp up my rubbish SG a little bit.

I know it's possible but how would it affect the sound etc

Would the measurements affect the strings or anything?

What size of tailpiece should I go for?

Also have I forgotten to consider anything?

  1. OK sit back and read. Any tail piece can be replaced. A head stock pitch is10'15 or17 degrees. Gibson uses  a17 degree of pitch on there head stocks. If you were to do this you would need to cut exactly on the seam line to the angle of 17 degrees.the head stock can be epoxied and clamped using Elmer's Wood Glue although I use epoxy flakes mixed with water and heated. My suggestion to you is why not just replace the neck. I believe ( without research) that both axes have a bolt on neck and as long as you replace with the proper scale length neck you're worry free and without the problems of proper alignment. Please by all means contact me .pierresguitars@yahoo.com if you would like more info and resources to repair or upgrade this axe or any other.
