  1. by you being born in the UK , does not automatically give you the Rights of UK citizenship ,even if you have a birth certificate of the UK.

both of your parents being Egyptian , and no longer living in the UK,

    Right of Abode

A dual national is entitled to a Right of Abode stamp in their foreign passport to enable travel into the UK without hindrance.

It is also possible to have the Right of Abode if:

They are a Commonwealth National and one of their parents was born a British Citizen.

    OR

They are a commonwealth woman married to a British Citizen on or before 1.1.1983.

A person with the right of abode may apply to register as a British Citizen.

    # children born in the UK who live in the UK until age 10. #

    are elligible for UK citizenship ;

you said you were in the UK for one year ?

did you have to ask  a visa ? leave to enter ?

you cannot become a UK citizen , you have no direct ties to the UK even tough you were born in the UK .

  2. you can be both i forget what its called my friend is a brail citizen and american.

  3. you r both

  4. Yes, untill you are 18, then you choose one you want to be

  5. You might be able to get dual citizenship but being born there doesn't mean that you automatically qualify. My friend was in the US Army and his wife had a baby over there but not on base, got a British birth certificate etc but the child is not eligible for citizenship. Check it out with the embassy.

Oh and contrary to what the other people said, you can't just move to England and become a citizen, trust me it doesn't work that way or that easily. I'm English and have an American son so I have some knowledge.

  6. Depends if your parents were in UK as visitors or had a 'Right to Abode' (equivalent to a US Green Card) as they changed the law in 1983. They had foreign nationals flying in from all over giving birth to UK citizens. They have put a stop to this.

British citizenship by birth in the United Kingdom

Under the law in effect from 1 January 1983, a child born in the UK to a parent who is a British citizen or 'settled' in the UK is automatically a British citizen by birth

        * only one parent needs to meet this requirement, either the father or the mother.

        * "settled" status usually means the parent is resident in the United Kingdom and holds Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Right of Abode. Irish citizens are automatically deemed to hold ILR.

        * Special rules exist for cases where a parent of a child is a citizen of a European Union or European Economic Area member state, or Switzerland. The law in this respect was changed on 2 October 2000 and again on 30 April 2006. Details

        * For children born before 1 July 2006, if only the father meets this requirement, the parents must be married. Marriage subsequent to the birth is normally enough to confer British citizenship from that point.

        * where the father is not married to the mother, the Home Office will usually register the child as British provided an application is made and the child would have been British otherwise. The child must be aged under 18 on the date of application.

        * where a parent subsequently acquires British citizenship or "settled" status the child can be registered as British provided he or she is still aged under 18

        * if the child lives in the UK until age 10 there is a lifetime entitlement to register as a British citizen. The immigration status of the child and its parents is irrelevant.

        * Special provisions may apply for the child to acquire British citizenship if a parent is a British Overseas citizen or British subject, or if the child is stateless.

Before 1983, birth in the UK was sufficient in itself to confer British nationality irrespective of the status of parents, with an exception only for children of diplomats and enemy aliens. This exception did not apply to most visiting forces, so, in general, children born in the UK before 1983 to visiting military personnel (eg US forces stationed in the UK) are British citizens by birth.

  7. Yes i course you can be what you want is a free world!!!

  8. if you have the birth certificate than you already are a british citizen... you just need to apply for a passport at the british high commission in egypt.... well and cross fingers (i have a friend in south africa who was in the same situation)

  9. Well yes it is...

You don't have to be part brittish to be a citizen there.

If I moved there tomarrow I could become a citizen...

Do you have a brittish accent?

I was just wondering because I never met a brittish person before.

  10. I HAVE TWIN COUSINS WHO WERE BORN THERE IN 1984 AND THEY'VE BEEN DENIED CITIZENSHIP.  MY DAUGHTER WAS BORN IN WASHINGTON D.C AND THE U.S EMBASSY REFUSES TO RENEW HER PASSPORT.

  11. The law in UK was changed in 1982. Since 1982 a child born in UK to parents who are not settled here does not automatically obtain British nationality. I am afraid that you will not qualify. I am an immigration solicitor in UK.
