Question:

Is it possible to be allergic to Vodka?

I started noticing hives all over my body on wednesday, a few days after I drank vodka. Last night i drank vodka again and the hives got a lot worse.

my friend tells me there is nothing in vodka except water and alcohol, so it it possibe that I am allergic to the smirnoff I've had?

Could it be some allergy to something I had and alcohol just makes it worse?

Thanks

  1. well it's not just water and alcohol that's in vodka but yes you could well be allergic to it or it could just be something else and a coincidence. I would go see your doctor just to be on the safe side and avoid alcohol before seeing him

  2. Could be an allergy to wheat.  According to the website below, some distilled alcohols are commonly made from wheat, rye or barley.  Check the site out, it's pretty interesting.
