I can't work out if I am happy or very depressed. I feel both. Is this even possible? I have been referred to a psychiatrist but have to wait quite a while until the appointment. I feel isolated as I can't tell people I feel depressed because I act like I smile all the time? It's driving me mad as I've never heard of anything like it, even in descriptions of bipolar disorder. I really feel horrible and wired. Is this some kind of weird personality disorder?

  1. Yes, it can happen with bipolar disorder, mixed type and it can happen under the influence of substances of abuse.

  2. It sounds as though you have manic-depressive illness.

  3. You don't sound happy to me. You sound anxious and depressed. It's nothing weird. Don't fret, just keep going. You'll see your doctor soon.

  4. I've felt depression in me for the last 5 months, but parts of those times I have had some of the happiest moments in me. It is very possible to be depressed and happy at the same time.

  5. The thing with depression is that it is chronic, something that is always there but there are times when you notice it more and others when you dont.  There are variations of depression too, high-mildly depressed.  It sounds like you may be struggling with mild depression, like myself - and I smile all the time too around others.  Just enjoy the happiness when you feel it, being depressed doesnt mean that you have to suffer all the time.
