  3. sure is possible, being airborne and a ranger are two different things, but to be a ranger you need to be airborne first.

  4. yea ofcourse, havnt u ever heard of the 82nd Airborne? there are many units that are airborn infantry tat are not rangers. theres only one unit of rangers anyway. i think its the 75th regiment?

  5. Yes. The 101st is an Airborne unit, but they are not entirely Rangers.

Jump school is part of Ranger training.

In other words: All Rangers have wings, but not all soldiers with wings are Rangers.

  6. yep, i'm in the Air Force and i'm attached to an airborne unit right now. Combined Forces Special Operations Command Component.  CFSOCC is the forward unit of SOCCENT. i'm just an augmentee for them but yes its possible

  7. Yes, there many, many airborne units that aren't part of the 75th Regiment or the Ranger Training Brigade and none of those require you to be Ranger qualified to join anyway especially as a private.

Here are a few units below:

    USASOCOM

    XVIII Airborne Corps

    82nd Airborne Division

101st Airborne Division (Is now Air Assault (uses helicopters to move with primarily) with only thier Pathfinder Companies in their two Aviation Brigades and parts of their Division G-3 on jump status. The rest of legs since 1968. The name was kept for historical sake. I served with them in Iraq.)

    173d Airborne Brigade

4th Brigade Combat Team (ABN), 25th Infantry Division

    20th Engineer Brigade

    1st BN (ABN), 509th INF

    4th Psychological Operations Group
