I am a freshman in high school but i barely go to school.(Last year I missed about 3 and half months.

Yet on tests and assignments I usually do better than the

rest of the class. h**l I used to smoke pot and do acid(not anymore).

I don't study at all. My friends are always asking why so I decided that maybe someone here knows. Well actually I'm repeating 9th grade because of my absences.

  1. maybe you are just naturally smart, i mean i know someone who's pretty much the same and also used to smoke a lot of weed.. maybe there's a strange connection :P either way, good luck

  2. Well, if you're assuming that you're born and you're automatically given the gift of intelligence, I would say you're wrong. Sometimes though, people are able to absorb information better than others, even if they don't really study. In my case, I consider myself smart, but I hardly ever do my homework, nor do I ever study like I should. Some people study for hours on end for tests, but still do bad on them.

However, I did notice that the most unapplied students can actually be pretty smart. Strange how the world works, huh?

  3. No, you cant be naturally smart.  You can be intelligent.  However, if you don't learn, you wont become smart.

I think you would have great difficulty proving to anyone that you are smart.

Some comments about this word intelligence.  Humans are referred to as being the only intelligent animal, and that is the primary reason humans have become the dominate species.  However, just because we poses the ability to be intelligent, does not mean we are all intelligent.  Indeed, many people are not intelligent.  One way to prove that to yourself, is to read not just the questions, but the majority of the answers in Yahoo Answers.  The problem is even worse by Yahoo Answers artificial method of referring to people as Top Contributors.  The only thing really needed to get that title is time, certainly not intelligence.

We all simply do NOT have the ability to be smart.  That's like saying any American could become President.  It is simply not true.

  4. Yes, I believe it's possible to be naturally smart. Are your parents smart? You learn from the people who raise you. My dad has poor speech and unfortunately I picked that up from him. So be lucky and I'm sorry you have to repeat the 9th grade.

  5. There are all kinds of smarts. Book smarts, life smarts, world smarts, and just common sense smarts.

Me, I think I have flat out common sense smarts, I can BS my way through any exams. I got a near perfect on the ACT but I'm failing courses in college just like everyone else. On the other hand my best friend growing up had great Book smarts, she Aced every test but had trouble on making decisions about life, such as buying a car instead of going to college.

As for biologically are some people naturally smarter than others? Its impossible to say for sure, there are immeasurable factors that go into your brain's ability and how it came to the way it is. Every time you see or think of something your brain records whether it approves and retains the knowledge or disproves and retains something else. I personally believe that some people ARE born with a higher capacity to store knowledge, but I don't think that alone is enough to say one person would ever have an edge over another person.

Everyone is smart enough, its just how we decide to use our brain on a daily basis that determines how collectively smart we are.
