If yes, what do I need to do?

Thank you!

  1. Depends what country you are in. if you are in the UK you can do a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) or a PGDE in Scotland.

This just takes a year and, if you are in England or Wales, you will get paid a small salary to do it and not have to pay course fees. It is very hard work but well worth it.

To get on the course you will have to convince the College/University that your degree is relevant to the subject/ age range you want to teach. It would also be very helpful if you had a little work experience. When applying for my course I had done a day a week voluntary work in a primary school for a few months, and this was enough to get me in.

If you are interested just have a look at some college and university prospectuses and find out who offers the course. You can also look at their websites. This site gives more details about the PGCE: http://www.tda.gov.uk/Recruit/thetrainin...

It is also possible to work as an unqualified teacher in England and Wales schools. This is lower paid and many people believe it should not be allowed. You would probably need some experience of working in a school though.

Teaching is a really rewarding career and I would strongly recommend it.

  2. I think it is possible to become a teacher. You might can go in as lateral entry. You could teach math with that background I do know. I am trying to teach and I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. I don't think Im qualified all I can do is apply and go on the interveiw and get lucky.

  3. Most states require a Praxis Exam. You already have a degree. Look into what areas you want to teach, and take the Praxis exam. If you receive a passing score, you will be "certified" to teach that subject. Just type "praxis exam certification" into google. Hope that works for your state!  You may want to talk to someone in the education division at the college you attended. They can help you figure out where to go from here. GOOD LUCK!
