I have no relatives or friends in need and I don't know given my own life and interests if I will ever have my own kids and this is something I've been curious about. Please keep the lame comments to a minimum..I am serious here.

  1. Agencies dealing with paid surrogates require you to already have children, and usually to not be planning on having any more in your future. You can be one for a friend, family member, or paid privately without and agency even if you have not had children.

  2. You can be a surrogate for a friend or family member.  But agencies providing surrogacy services are looking for women who have been pregnant before.

    Good luck.

  3. No. Under no circumstances will you be able to become a surrogate without proving that you are capable of carrying a child.  You have to have had at least one full term live birth (not two, as another poster said).

The cost of IVF is too much and the fears intended parents may have of you becoming emotionally attached to the child is too great to risk on someone who has not had children.

What would make the clinic think that you were more capable of carrying a child than the mother?  You could yourself unknowingly have fertility problems.

Plus, you could experience something in surrogacy that will prevent you from ever having any more children, your own included.  That would be awful! Even if you think right now that you don't want kids, time has a way of changing that.

Wait till you've completed your own family before starting someone else's.

  4. Unfortunately the answer is probably No (technically it's possible but unlikely a company would use you), as the surrogate companies are looking for women who they know can carry a pg to term safely with no complications etc via preivious children they had already. Also in the emotional side of things, Some women swear they would do it (be a surrogate) but only to find out that when they have their own children they couldn't possibly carry a baby for that length of time to give it up to someone else after they've had 9-10 months to bond with the baby growing inside them.

So they perfer women that already have the amount of children they want and so probably won't feel the urge to keep the babies as they already have the amount they wanted.

There's soo many rules and regulations involved, the only real way of knowing exactly what they want in their surrogate mothers is to go there and enquire about it.

  5. i would say if you knew someone that wanted it in your family or close friend or if you just go searching on your own and not use any agency then i would say yes but agencys usually want a mother that has had sucessuful pregnancy with a health baby.

  6. From what I have read they prefer that you have had 2 healthy full term deliveries before you become a surrogate best of luck!

  7. No.  With the thousands of dollars that a couple would be placing into surrogacy, they want to know that you can carry a baby to full term without serious complications.  You just aren't a candidate.
