Is it possible to block the plants transpiration and what phenomenon would be disturbed?

    One of the four major theories of upward transport in a stem (specifically in the xylem tissue)  is "transpiration pull/cohesion tension." What this means is that water loss from a leaf by transpiration is replaced by water molecules behind it. Because of transpiration, water is "pulled" up the stem of a plant.

    Therefore, blocking transpiration would disturb the rise of water

    going up the stem into the leaves.

    To a lesser degree, here's another phenomenon that would

    be disturbed: EVAPORATION of water from transpiration causes COOLING This is significant in forest areas. A large maple tree losses up to 50 gallons of water due to transpiration on a hot day. Besides shade, this is another reason why forest areas are cooler than areas without trees.
