My mother needs to get a kidney transplant soon, so i was wondering if it was possible to get a donor from China or any other foreign country that was willing to come to America to have the surgery done. Is this possible? And how long would it take to get the paper work done? Would the government in China not allow it? PLEASE HELP.

  1. Unfortunately, there is a good chance that compensation for organ transplant is illegal in the United States due to the National Organ Transplant Act of 1984.  If you are truly serious, you should check into it further, but here is the information that I found:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organ_trans... (go down to "Reasons for donation and ethical issues" then "Compensated Donation")

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nationa... (Information about the act)

It seems that there are countries that allow the sale of kidneys, but probably ones that most would not want to go to due to safety issues or quality of care.  This includes Iran.

I know that it was common in countries such as India for people to sell their kidneys even though it is illegal.

    "Forced donation

This is organ donation that is done against the will of the donor. There have been various accusations that certain authorities are harvesting organs from those the authorities deem undesirable, such as prison populations. The World Medical Association stated that individuals in detention are not in the position to give free consent to donate their organs [13]. Illegal dissection of corpses is a form of body-snatching and may have taken place to obtain allografts. [15]

According to the Chinese Deputy Minister of Health, Huang Jiefu, [14] approximately 95% of all organs used for transplantation are from executed prisoners. The lack of public organ donation program in China is used as a justification for this practice. However reports in Chinese media raised concerns if executed criminals are the only source for organs used in transplants.

In October 2007, bowing to international pressure, the Chinese Medical Association agreed on a moratorium of commercial organ harvesting from condemned prisoners, but did not specify a deadline. China agreed to restrict transplantations from donors to their immediate relatives.[15][16]

People in other parts of the world are responding to this availability of organs, and a number of individuals (including US and Japanese citizens) have elected to travel to China or India as medical tourists to receive organ transplants which may have been sourced in what might be considered elsewhere to be unethical ways (see later). [16] [17] [18]."

    (from wikipedia)

There are your only options if you do not have a matched family member. Obviously, you have to weigh ethical issues.

  2. hello, i really understand u mood, u mother face a clutch.Let me organize something maybe helpful. In china or other undevelopment asia countries, indeedly exist many poorer want to sell their kidney to change their fate. But u need find a way to operate it and prepared money. Even take some law risk. Idk if their are some some hospital or illegal hospital in US can do this kind of surgery. And should consider the kidney-body match problem, so u need find option people.

U should  find someone to be a ageny in china, let him to find someone will to donor their kidney for money. Then ask u ageny to help them to join a travel or business grop to get visa to US, u need to afford all the travelling cost and plane ticket.

When they arrived at US, then do some test to find a best match kindey, sign a offical free-donor agreement and another privacy agreement to ensure both sider's right. Then do the damm surgery and just pray.

china law don't forbid kidney donate, but should be slef willing, free. Actually the goverment can't monitor every donate, people get money privacy.
